Because Mom Said So: Celebrating the Women Who Raised Us (and All Their “Wisdom”)

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a fun look at classic mom sayings and why moms deserve time to relax, recharge, and be pampered.

Let’s be honest… moms are the original wellness experts. Long before skincare routines, self care Sundays, and green juices were a thing, our moms were out here giving advice, setting rules, and sharing their own special kind of “science.”

Some of it made sense. Some of it… we are still questioning to this day.

But one thing is for sure, the older we get, the more we realize they might have been onto something.

In celebration of all the incredible moms out there, we are taking a moment to laugh, reminisce, and appreciate some of the classic “mom sayings” we all grew up hearing.

You know the ones…

“If you go outside with wet hair, you’ll catch a cold.”
To this day, some of us still hesitate before stepping outside with damp hair, just in case mom was right.

“Don’t sit too close to the TV, you’ll ruin your eyes.”
Now we sit inches away from our phones all day and somehow that was never part of the warning.

“Eat your carrots, they’ll help you see in the dark.”
We really thought we were about to develop superhero night vision.

“Don’t make that face, it’ll stay like that.”
A little dramatic? Maybe. Effective? Absolutely.

“Money doesn’t grow on trees.”
And yet somehow, as kids, we were convinced it might.

“Because I said so.”
The ultimate mic drop. No further questions allowed.

“Wear a jacket.”
Even when it was 20 degrees out, and you swore you weren’t cold.

Looking back, these little sayings were more than just funny one-liners. They were part of how our moms cared for us, protected us, and tried to teach us lessons (even if the logic was sometimes questionable). They were doing their best, and honestly, they did a pretty amazing job.

At Sanctuary Day Spas, we believe moms deserve more than just one day of appreciation. They deserve time to relax, recharge, and be taken care of for once. Whether it is a massage, facial, or just a quiet moment to themselves, it is the perfect way to say thank you for everything they have done, including all the advice we swore we would never repeat.

And yet… here we are.

So, this Mother’s Day, celebrate the moms, the mom figures, and the women who have shaped us into who we are today. And maybe, just maybe, admit that they were right about a few things after all.
Because let’s face it, mom always knows best.
