How to prepare for a day at the spa

You’ve booked a luxurious spa day at Sanctuary—yay! Whether you’re a spa newbie or a seasoned pro, these tips and tricks will help you make the most of your experience.

Before you arrive at the spa

Schedule your spa day in advance. Book early so you can reserve your preferred appointment times. Read up on our treatments beforehand so you know what to expect. If you’re not sure which services to book, please call our team and we’d be happy to help guide you!

Eat a light, healthy meal and hydrate. Don’t eat a heavy meal right before your appointment or you may feel uncomfortable or bloated during your services. Make sure to drink lots of water, too, especially if you’re booked in for a massage.

Avoid wearing perfume or highly scented products. Some folks are sensitive to smells, so please go light on scented products prior to your appointment. Plus, if you’re wearing strong perfume, you won’t be able to fully benefit from the scents featured in your treatment(s)!

Avoid shaving the day of (or even before) your service. Otherwise, services that include exfoliation may sting a little. Ouch!

Pack your must-haves. Wear or pack comfortable clothes so you can keep the relaxation going once you leave. Throw in other helpful items like hair elastics and the latest page-turner and you’re all set!

Once you arrive at the spa

Arrive early. Don’t start your day by rushing to your appointment. Leave your home early so you have time to park, check in, fill out any necessary paperwork and enjoy a cup of refreshing tea or a light snack before you’re whisked away for your services.

Lock up your phone. We know, we know—it’s hard to unplug sometimes! That’s exactly why you should enjoy some screen-free time. You’ll receive access to a locker to store your phone and other belongings. Bring a book if you’d like to wind down in our relaxation lounges before or between your services.

Relax! It sounds counter-intuitive, but make an effort to relax! In today’s busy world, it’s often hard to carve out time for yourself, so take advantage of it. Practice deep breathing or meditation during your treatment(s) to help your mind slow down.
